Thailand
1. Bangkok
Bangkok is an essential part of a trip to Thailand. Although not everyone’s cup of tea, the culture-shock inducing capital has some incredible places of interest that you would be foolish to miss. The impossibly bejeweled Grand Palace should really be visited and if you have time, take a trip to Golden Buddha (one of the oldest and best known landmarks in Bangkok) and Wat Pho which is home to a huge reclining Buddha.
2. Pattaya
Pattaya is one of the most famous beach destinations in Thailand. It has grown dramatically over the last 25 years from a small quiet fishing village to a bustling metropolis. In fact few beach resorts in Asia can match the variety of attractions that are found in this beautiful city by the bay.
A little over two hours from Bangkok via air-conditioned buses, Pattaya has excellent affordable golf courses, beautiful natural beaches that offer an array of water sports, and a variety of places and attractions to visit. Also on hand is a vibrant and colorful nightlife that is meant for the young at heart. Pattaya is the ideal destination for those who are seeking non-stop entertainment.
A popular weekend destination for people wanting to escape the city, Pattaya has plenty of accommodation in just about every price category. The main attraction is the beaches, but there are also plenty of places to go to and savor the taste of Thailand’s diversity. Coral Island & Walking Street is a must go places in Pattaya.
3. Phuket
Phuket is the largest island in Thailand. At 540 square kilometres, it’s about the same size as Singapore. Just over an hour by flight from Bangkok or Singapore, and with daily connections to most major Asian airports, Phuket is ideally situated for a short break or a relaxing vacation. One of the main attractions of Phuket is Phi Phi Island.
Diving and snorkeling top the list of exciting ways to spend a day, and the clear waters around Phi Phi are perfect for checking out the rich marine life. Hire a long-tail boat and let a local show you the area’s many remote beaches and private coves. Cliff diving, sunbathing, reading, exercising, hiking, rock climbing – the possibilities are plentiful.
